Wei Leng Tay

Working predominantly with photography, sound and video, Wei Leng Tay’spractice considers how family and the state intersect with memory and notionsof displacement and self-identity.She has collaborated and exhibited with institutions such as the AustralianNational University CIW Gallery (2016), Cemeti Art House, Yogyakarta (2016),National University of Singapore (NUS) Museum (2010-2011), Para/Site ArtSpace (2010), Hong Kong, Chulalongkorn University Art Centre, Bangkok (2012),Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography (2014) and ARTER Space for Art,Istanbul (2014), and with festivals such as the Daegu Photography Biennale,South Korea (2016), Lianzhou Photography Festival, China (2015), NoorderlichtPhotography Festival, the Netherlands (2010), and the Asian Art Biennale (2013)organised by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art.Tay has been a recipient of awards such as the Poynter Fellowship through YaleSchool of Art and the National Arts Council Singapore’s Art Creation Fund, andhas done residencies with organisations such as Objectifs Centre forPhotography and Film+Art Incubator, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, and VaslArtist Collective, Pakistan. Her work forms part of public collections includingthose of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Museum; National TaiwanMuseum of Fine Art; Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan and Heritage Museum,Hong Kong.
