VASL Art

Farrah Mahmood Adnan

I practice the Traditional Technique of Miniature Paintings and my work deals with a range of social and political issues but as a female artist in a male dominated society I have always been more inclined to talk about what it means to be a woman in the dark parts of the world. My inspiration comes from my direct environment as I am a very sensitive to my surroundings and feel deeply for human sufferings.

My work is conceptual and coveys all through the symbols that had been use in Traditional Art. My recent collection deals with a range of social and political issues but as a female artist in a male dominated society I have always been more inclined to talk about what it means to be a woman in the dark parts of the world. My paintings on ‘karokari’ are a good example of that. (Honor killings)

The ‘Front Line’ series is about the drown attacks in Pakistan that had killed many innocent people and still the killings are going on. In all, attention is drawn to the abuse of power in all it senses which is the root cause of a corrupt and unjust system affecting our personal judgment of human values.
