VASLNewsletter Online                                                                                                                            Issue no. 008, April - June  2007

Welcome to VASL Newsletter Online #8

The first quarter of 2007 has been a packed start on all projects!

Two VASL Art Residencies Taaza Tareen (Karachi) and Thirteen Satellites (Lahore) completed their rounds with well attended shows respectively.

The first Gulf Art Fair took place last month, the complete absence of any Pakistani art gallery representing contemporary Pakistani artists was a point of concern...something to act  upon for next year!

The National Art Gallery controversy drags on , as more and more letters, signatures and voices are raised to secure the future of this institution. The artists' community is an emerging force, that needs to realize that the value of cultural currency is as strong as its economic counterpart. A positive branding that Pakistan can use effectively, especially under the current social and political quicksand.  When will the Gallery open to our public?
