Masooma syed Teaching Residency
Alongside, Masooma tutored the sixth semester students encouraging them to tackle complex issues and their ideas on emotional and physical space. The student’s repertoire was broadened as they were allowed to choose their own format to work in, from two dimensional pieces to installations. The young artists also researched and studied a range of art styles from early Greek mythological representation to Surrealist dreamscapes and contemporary figure painters in order to situate their own art making in a historical context.
Masooma also shared her art practice with a larger audience at the Vasl Art Share and with the medical students at the Agha Khan Medical University. Further, Masooma conducted a Jewellery workshop for the students with special needs enrolled at the Karachi Vocational training Centre (KVTC), encouraging the students to work in found materials, such as buttons, scraps of cloth, strings etc.
