Zarmeene Shah is an independent curator and writer, and an academic currently based in Karachi, Pakistan. With an MA in Critical and Curatorial Studies focusing on the Modern and Contemporary periods, Shah’s practice focuses on global contemporary art with specialist knowledge of the South Asian region. Her research interests expand outwards into the Global South, with concerns resting at the intersection of decolonial aesthetics, ecology, culture and politics. Having curated numerous exhibitions both institutionally and independently, she has previously served as Assistant Director of the Mohatta Palace Museum, Curator-at-Large of the inaugural Karachi Biennale (KB17), and Guest Curator for Qatar Museums. She is currently Associate Professor at the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture in Karachi where she has served as Director Graduate Studies
