Ahwar Nasir is a multidisciplinary artist and art educator. She graduated from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. Her art practice expands across painting, drawing, and embroidery, exploring themes of home and displacement. Drawing from her own nomadic life, Ahwar transforms her memories into tactile and visual narratives. She skillfully uses embroidery and drawings to reflect the domestic chaos and fleeting moments that shape her sense of belonging. Nasir experienced constant relocation, leaving fragmented memories of various homes. Growing up amidst her grandfather’s textile business, she developed a fascination with fabrics, particularly muslin’s fragility and translucency, symbolizing her transient memories. Through embroidery she captures the comforts and confusions of her nomadic experiences. Precise fabric cuts juxtapose with spontaneous drawings, imposing order on chaos, reflecting her quest for stability amidst constant change.

Nasir’s work has been featured in exhibitions at Jamshed Memorial Hall, AAN Art Space and Museum, Koel Gallery, VM Art Gallery, TDF Ghar, Main Frame Gallery and Frere Hall in Karachi, O Art Space in Lahore. She was a recent resident at VM Art Gallery’s residency “Always, from the heart”, and also took part in the “Garmi” residency at Cinema 73. Nasir’s work was also recently  exhibited at Left Bank Leeds Gallery in the UK.
