‘Intimate Resistance’ suggests a deeply personal yet quietly defiant stance-one that doesn’t rely on overt protest but instead on nuanced storytelling, vulnerability and reclaiming space through lived experiences.

The works explore the richness of everyday life, complexities of identity, the emotional and psychological landscapes of individuals navigating personal and political realities. This resistance is intimate because it emerges from within-rooted in memory, home, gender, language, humor, grief, and desire. It refuses the spectacle and instead invites viewers into subtler, more layered engagements. It moves towards self-definition, where artists and thinkers assert agency over their narratives.

This exhibition brings together the works of Arif Mahmood, Hassaan Gondal, Malika Abbas and Wendy Marijnissen. It’s the second exhibition curated by Pakistan Documentary Photography Initiative (PDPI).
