The 7th Taaza Tareen participating artists included Syed Safdar Ali, Helen Kate Marais Harris, Muhammad Sufyan Baig, Zoya Siddiqui, Faryal Ahsan and Seher Naveed (Writer in Residence) who came together in a five week residency in Karachi.

Zoya Siddiqui ‘s body of work was inspired by sea-side activates in Karachi. Brief encounters and spontaneous documentation of isolated moments near the sea were represented within a spatial and limitless loop. Siddiqui states that “The city’s intertwined relationship with the sea, the stark contrast between the chaos/mess and infinite expanse/freedom, all personally make these captured moments (mundane, cyclical, almost futile and at the edge of both spaces) point towards both Karachi and general ‘humanness’.”
