Eric Peter (b. 1989, Dordrecht, The Netherlands) is an artist and poet based in The
Hague, The Netherlands. His practice centers on language through a deconstruction of
the conventions of historical narrative and social frameworks. In this context, language
is to be understood in its most expansive interpretation; encompassing the speech
apparatus and non-verbal communication, as well as vocabularies, (mis)spellings, and
gobbledygook. Important to Peter’s projects, is the interweaving of collective and
individual perspectives together with his own personal experiences. Projects can
include installations, discussions, workshops, performances, and video or text works.
He is currently working towards a third publication of his poetries.

Peter holds a BFA in Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, and has
concluded an MA in Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute (DAI) in 2019. He has been
awarded both the Baker Tilly Award and the KARA in 2018, and was a recipient of the
Mondriaan Fund’s Artist Start (Stipendium for Emerging Artists) in 2015.
Peter’s writing has appeared in the journal of Contemporary Art Stavanger (CAS),
Nieuwe Vide, and Upgration among other publishing platforms. Group and solo
presentations include ‘Dark Advances: ‘Affect Aliens’ & Revolutionary Despair’, Motto,
Berlin, Germany (2022); ‘For What Itʼs Worth’, Garage Rotterdam, Rotterdam, The
Netherlands (2022); ‘Plural Fertilities’, Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen, Vijfhuizen, The
Netherlands (2020); ‘(A Currency Called Love) دل هــــــــــوایـــی’, Studio17, Stavanger, Norway (2019); ‘Words Don’t Come Easy’, Kunst im Tunnel (KIT), Düsseldorf, Germany
