The German artist Miro Craemer studied theatre and literature at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich before working as an art director for various fashion labels for 15 years. Since 2007, he has been working nationally and internationally exclusively as a freelance artist in the fields of textiles, performance multimedia installation and porcelain, while also acting as an art mediator and curator. Following an “expanded concept of art”, he explores the integrative and social potential of art in mostly interdisciplinary projects, sometimes also in public spaces.
Since 2019, he has been realising “Denkraum Deutschland” for the Pinakothek der Moderne, a discursive exhibition and art mediation format on social issues, which was awarded the Art Museum Award of the European Museum Academy in 2022.Since 2020 he has been managing the art space “mim | Raum für Kultur” in Munich with an explicitly locally oriented programme at the interface of art and design. In 2022 he initiated the “80469 GLOCKENBACH BIENNALE” in Munich. Since 2025 he is the Operating Editor of “MAG. Museum & Social Change” an annual museum magazine of the European Museum Academy. Together with Hira Khan and supported by VASL Artists Association, he initiated the long term intercultural research project “Mindful Threads”. “Mindful Threads” focuses on the exchange of traditional textile narratives of Karachi and Munich through the lens of sustainability, ecology and fairness in art.
