Inshal Tahir is a painter and new media artist based in Karachi, Pakistan. Her work often delves into alternate realities that emerge from her emotions and psychological states. Surreal and fantastical in nature, her practice explores themes of fantasy and inner landscapes.
Tahir’s research began with a deep interest in Banyan trees, which are steeped in history, mythology, and cultural significance—particularly within South Asian contexts. These symbolic elements continue to influence her work both visually and conceptually.
She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a double major in Painting and New Media Art from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2021. Since then, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions at reputed galleries across Pakistan.
In 2024, Tahir presented her first solo show titled Lovers Before Time, an immersive installation created as part of the Museum of Repair project by Vasl Artists’ Association. In 2025, she co-curated Candy Forest for the World Culture Festival at the Arts Council and Cruise No. 175. Most recently, she curated Horsemen at the Lahore Polo Club.
