Razin Rubin (b. 1994) was born and raised in Sukkur, Sindh. She decided to pursue a career in art and moved to Karachi in 2013. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2016, graduating with distinction for her thesis. Her exceptional dedication earned her the IVS Founders Award in 2016 and the Sher Asfandyar Khan Scholarship for her thesis.

Since graduation, Rubin has actively exhibited her work. In 2017, she participated in two artist residencies: the 4th Sanat Residency and Vasl’s Taaza Tareen 9 Residency, in collaboration with the Heinrich Böll Stiftung. In 2020, she self-published a book titled ‘We Only Remember What Home Looked Like’, created in collaboration with Merab Simon. Rubin also received a year-long research grant from the Vasl Artists’ Association, in partnership with Haider Ali Naqvi, for their project ‘In the Loving Memory of…’, which explores family rituals and memories within the context of a Museum of Abandoned Spaces.

In addition to her art practice, Razin Rubin has been a member of the Vasl Artists’ Association team from 2017 to 2024. She has also served as a design faculty member at the Imperial Tutorial College in Karachi since its inception. She is currently working for Chawkandi Art as a gallery curator.
