Qadir Jhatial a visual artist hails from Hyderabad, Sindh and currently based in Lahore. In 2012 he completed his Bachelors degree in Fine Arts with distinction in thesis from the National College of Arts, Lahore. He then went on to pursue and complete his master’s degree (MAADS) from Beaconhouse National University, Lahore in 2020 where he awarded UMISSA scholarship and distinction in thesis project. Jhatial’s inquiry is centered about what is a representation of an image that how the image is viewed, read and interpreted the present age of overwhelming information and knowledge. His practice evolved from pure painting into a multi-disciplinary practice, this went beyond conventional painting and drawing moving to the use of interactive expression incorporating performative and digital media elements. In 2020 He has been featured artist (CollaborARTISTS) a commission project supported by Arts council England. Jhatial has exhibited two solo presentation “Street-wise” 2015 and “ Times of the Day” 2021 and shown works in several group shows in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and two participation in Dubai and Tokyo. He was artist in residence in 4th Sanat Residency, Karachi in 2017. Besides his art practice he also engaged with certain academic projects.
