Asim M. Ameen was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. Having lived through organized gang wars and a conservative upbringing, His research and practice are focused on language and politics, religion, and education.

Asim graduated with distinction in Fine Art from the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture, Karachi. He was a 2020 Global Reporting Program Fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He lives and works in Karachi, where he teaches Visual Art at the University of Karachi.
