Who we are

Vasl Artists’ Association (“Vasl”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a not-for-profit arts organisation based in Karachi, Pakistan. We support artistic exchange, residencies, exhibitions, workshops, publications, research, and public programmes.

Information we collect

We may collect:

  • Contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, organisation, and the contents of your message when you contact us or complete a website form.
  • Programme-related information, such as CVs, biographies, portfolios, project proposals, correspondence, and other information you choose to submit for residencies, workshops, exhibitions, collaborations, or other opportunities.
  • Artist Directory and Art Resources information, including professional biographies, location, websites, social-media links, images, artworks, and contact details that an artist or authorised representative provides for public display
  • Technical information about use of the website, such as IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referring pages, and dates or times of visits.

Our “Donate” calls to action are enquiry forms only. Vasl does not collect donations or payment information through this website.

Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website and to improve its content and performance. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies to collect technical and usage information, including device and browser details, IP address, pages viewed, and how visitors reach or use the site.

  • Assess and administer applications, residencies, workshops, exhibitions, events, collaborations, and other Vasl programmes.
  • Maintain and publish the Artist Directory and Art Resources.
  • Operate, protect, improve, and troubleshoot our website.
  • Understand website traffic and usage through Google Analytics.
  • Meet legal, accounting, reporting, safeguarding, or regulatory obligations.

Public artist profiles and submissions

Vasl’s Artist Directory and Art Resources are public platforms. If you provide information for an artist profile or other public listing, we may publish the information agreed for publication, which may include your name, biography, city or country, artwork images, website, social-media links, and professional contact details.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information for public display. You may ask us to correct, update, or remove your published profile by emailing info@vaslart.org.

When we share information

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We may share information only where necessary with:

  • Google, for website analytics.
  • Service providers that host, maintain, secure, or support our website and related systems.
  • Funders, partners, or programme collaborators where necessary to run a jointly delivered programme, and only to the extent relevant to that programme.
  • Authorities or professional advisers where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect Vasl, our community, or others.
  • A successor organisation if Vasl undergoes a restructuring, merger, or transfer of operations.

We may also use and share aggregated or anonymised information that does not identify you.

International use

Vasl works with artists, institutions, and service providers internationally. Your information may therefore be processed outside the country in which you live. When we do so, we take reasonable steps to protect it in line with this policy and applicable law.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including programme administration, record-keeping, legal obligations, and resolving disputes.

Public Artist Directory information is retained while the relevant profile remains published, unless you request its removal or update. We may retain limited records where necessary for administrative, legal, archival, or safeguarding purposes.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to our use of your personal information.

Third-party links

Our website may link to third-party websites, social-media platforms, artist websites, and partner organisations. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and Vasl is not responsible for their content or handling of personal information.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures to protect personal information. However, no website, transmission, or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children
