Sajil (b. 2000, Karachi) is a London-based painter exploring multimedia installation. Her practice explores the intersection of migration, memory, and built environments. Having lived across several countries, Sajil’s work is informed by the fluid exchange of stories inherent in the migrant experience. Inspired by South Asian visual languages & the traditions of Mughal manuscripts, she bridges heritage with contemporary architectural inquiry.
Her process is tactile; she makes her paper from recycled materials, and then applies gouache and oil in washes to explore architecture as a metaphor for the construction and experiences of the self. Sajil holds a BA in Fine Art from Newcastle University and an Msc in Marketing in the Creative Industries from Queen Mary University of London.
