Babar N. Sheikh is an award-winning filmmaker, multimedia and performance artist, noise performer, and academic. Over two decades, his work across film, sound, and installation has explored urban memory, devotion, and the intangible heritage of South Asia. He has directed acclaimed documentaries and ad films for local, regional, and international markets, earning the Silver Clio for Film and the Glass Lion for Change at Cannes Lions 2023. As Associate Professor at SZABIST University, Karachi, and an MPhil graduate of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, he continues to expand the discourse around film and media in Pakistan. His first book, Sufi Karachi (Dec 2025), offers an insider’s perspective into the devotional lived culture of the city.
