Zunera Rashid is a Karachi-based visual artist with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. Her work, primarily in collage, explores the intersection of paper, print media, and female narratives. Inspired by Karachi’s vibrant paper markets, she tears down and reconstructs found materials, searching for freedom within the restrictive narratives of femininity embedded in the printed text. Her rediscovery of Khawateen Digest continues to shape her practice. Over the past two years, she has expanded her collection to include imagery from old magazines, food wrappers, and misprints—forming a growing personal archive.
Zunera has exhibited at VM Art Gallery and Sambara Art Gallery and published research on Karachi’s Paper Market in the Urban Repository Archive in collaboration with Art South Asia Project. She is currently working with Vasl Arts and Association. Through her practice, she continues to explore the layered histories within everyday materials.
