The Digital Grain – Hidden Truths of Hyderabad
The exhibition of Umerkot-born visual artist Hans Raj. A 2022 Fine Arts graduate from the Institute of Art and Design, Jamshoro, Raj’s practice exists at the compelling intersection of physical reality and digital abstraction. For Raj, art is an essential declaration of individuality, fueled by a commitment to creative freedom and rigorous experimentation.
This body of work moves beyond mere documentation, serving as an inquiry into the hidden perspectives of human life. Through meticulous observation, Raj captures the familiar landscapes and cityscapes of Hyderabad, Pakistan, only to subject them to a transformative process of digital manipulation. By intentionally transitioning high-resolution photographs into pixelated compositions, he creates a conceptual bridge between the tangible world and the digital veil.
The resulting ‘pixel sketch’ aesthetic challenges the traditional boundaries of sight. By painting these fragmented, granular forms, Raj strips away the superficial familiarity of ordinary places to reveal the underlying psychological truths of our environments. This exhibition invites viewers to look past the immediate surface, prompting a deeper engagement with the overlooked spaces and hidden truths of our everyday world.
