As part of the Bronx Museum’s smART power program, Vasl hosted Art Jones, an American sound and media artist, for a month in September, 2012, in collaboration with the American Consulate, Karachi. Jones led educational and performance-based activities around Karachi throughout his residency, while developing his own work in collaboration with local artists, musicians and video makers. The collective workshop, directed by Jones, was a unique opportunity for all participants to fuse live music with video and performance media.

Artists working in diverse mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography and performance found a new form of staging their work that incorporated social engagement as a direct aspect of the art experience. The community fully embraced the dynamic presentations of video and audio collage that comprised of local and global images and sounds.
